Todd Hargroder
Meet the Designer
A quadriplegic since 1986, Todd Hargroder became frustrated with the limitations of rehabilitation products and founded ADI (Accessible Designs, Inc.) in 1993. Over the next 30 years, Todd dedicated his career to innovating mobility solutions that reflected the real-world needs of wheelchair users. By designing products that resonated with people living life on wheels, ADI grew into a globally recognized company through perseverance, user-inspired design, and innovation.
Widely recognized as one of the most influential innovators in wheelchair mobility, Todd holds more than 15 patents and has received multiple research grants for advancing mobility technology. In 2015, he successfully sold ADI to Stealth Products, a division of Pride Mobility.
Today, Todd continues to collaborate with research institutions and industry leaders around the world. His biggest endeavor yet is Soul Mobility and the development of the Power-Flex—a revolutionary hybrid mobility solution designed to bridge the gap between manual wheelchairs and traditional power chairs. Drawing on decades of firsthand experience as a wheelchair user and innovator, Todd is once again redefining what’s possible for people seeking greater independence, comfort, and mobility.
Hargroder has been pioneering wheelchair improvements since 1993, innovating multiple products which were first to market, including:
Wheelchair disc brake technologies
2-piece hub designs
Electric Actuation
Variable Braking Actuation
Carbon fiber back supports, side guards, and seat pans
Multiple offerings of Fixed and Adjustable back support mounting systems
